Oberhofen Castle is one of the most exclusive wedding and event venues on Lake Thun. Situated right on the water’s edge and surrounded by a stunning mountain backdrop, this historic castle offers the perfect setting for stylish weddings, outside ceremonies, receptions, family celebrations and private events with a special atmosphere.
Wedding Package
For weddings, we now offer an all-inclusive package that includes the venue from getting ready through to the reception, floral decorations, and personalised support.
Civil Ceremonies
Oberhofen Castle is registered as a venue for civil ceremonies. Bookings and planning are handled directly by the Oberland West Civil Registry Office. The ceremony takes place in the Summer Hall and lasts 20–30 minutes, depending on the arrangements made with the registry office. Guests leave the castle via the castle terrace and head towards the park. Our park provides a wonderful backdrop for capturing this moment on camera.
For those who wish to continue the celebration on site, the following options are available for a reception on the grounds:
- Parc terrace (max. 40 people)
- Salle Harrach (max. 40 people)
- Castel terrace – Available only to the last ceremonie couple at 4.00 pm and 4.30 pm
- Restaurant Schloss Oberhofen → Please enquire directly with the restaurant

Costs
The rate of CHF 330 for civil ceremonies includes: hire of the garden hall, floral decorations and seating for up to 50 guests.

Please note that ceremony dates can be booked no earlier than one year in advance.
Civil weddings take place on Friday afternoons from 1.30 pm.

The ceremonie space (garden hall) will accommodate up to 50 guests, in addition to the couple and their witnesses. Any specific requests regarding the wedding ceremony must be discussed directly with the Registry Office.

Set up and cleaning fee
Set-up, dismantling and cleaning costs are added to the venue hire fee. These are charged at 95.- per hour.
For the Garden Hall, Castle Terrace and Park Terrace, a rate of 2 hours / CHF 190 applies.
For the Chapel, the Salle Harrach and the Lake Tower, a rate of 1.5 hours / CHF 145 applies.

The following basic equipment is included: buffet and bar tables, chairs.

WINTER WEDDING AT OBERHOFEN CASTLE
We offer a dreamlike setting on Lake Thun, free from tourists and museum visitors outside of season. The heated castle chapel and the historical dining room are available exclusively for your wedding ceremony and reception.
